To explore the potential of the technology, Pixee Medical offers a first solution for computer-assisted orthopedic surgery using augmented reality to assist in the placement of total knee prostheses. Navigation software installed in connected glasses is paired with reduced MIS instrumentation. This instrumentation is equipped with autoclavable sensors.
The product simplifies surgery as it requires neither percutaneous bone references nor acquisition of anatomical landmarks with a probe. Sizing and ligament balancing functions will soon be integrated into this product that does not require preoperative imaging.
For joints requiring preoperative imaging, we will offer a more immersive mixed reality experience. An automatic reconstruction of a 3D model of the bone structure and its anatomical landmarks will allow the surgeon to plan the prosthesis positioning. During surgery, this virtual model, realigned to the patient’s bone, will enable the operator to precisely control the fit between the implant position and the surgical plan.
